Actions

Multiattack. The Grasping Hand makes two attacks. If both attacks hit a Medium or smaller target, the target is grappled (escape DC 14), and the Grasping Hand uses its Engulf on it.

Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 13 (2d8 + 4) bludgeoning damage.

Engulf. The Gasping Hand engulfs a Medium or smaller creature grappled by it. The engulfed target is blinded, restrained, and unable to breathe, and it must succeed on a DC 14 Constitution saving throw at the start of each of the mound’s turns or take 13 (2d8 + 4) acid damage. The Grasping Hand can have only one creature engulfed at a time.

These large, 7-foot tall, dark green ferns usually have 5-6 stalks per plant. They’re the only healthy looking thing in the area with rich, glossy green fronds. If a creature isn’t careful to avoid them, however, they will quickly flail out at them and curl their fronds to grab the creature, restraining them and attempting to digest them while they’re grappled, leaving their pitted, partially digested bone fragments to litter the ground around them.
